From Her Closet To You.... Please 

Welcoming the stylish ~Sherika!

A bit about you : Your style trait. 
My style is very versatile! To sum it up I would call my style, urban, vintage, glamour chic! 
One day I can rock a sleek, sassy style and the next funky and hip! I love sparkle but 
can rock wooden jewelry and feel just as beautiful! I allow my mood 
and attitude to determine my style! Which can change a lot! :) 

 What are you KNOWN to love to wear throughout the seasons? 

I think everyone that knows my well, will say that it is very rare you see my in a pair 
of flats! Heels are def the one thing that follows me no matter the season! I will let 
you all in on one of my little secret...I started wearing heels because I have a big foot! 
I wear a size 9 sometimes 10 and when I was younger I was very self conscious 
and insecure! So once I was old enough to wear heels I found that they didn't 
make my foot look as big as flats! Now although I have no shame in 
my game, I just love how a pair of heels makes me feel!

here is a small potion of the heels I owe! 

 What are you wearing today? 
Any given day you will probably see me in my favorite pair of cut off jean shorts or 
my absolute favorite pair of American Eagle ripped jeans with a white tee! I love 
the appearance of effortless style....even when there is nothing effortless about it! 
I'm also really loving scarves and hair pieces right now, just 
because it's summer doesn't mean you can't wear one!

 Your Favorite Trends / Style Era & Why? 
I love vintage, I have found some of my favorite pieces in vintage and thrift shops! 
I think it says something about a person who can rock something old and make it 
look brand new! Vintage clothing has so much character! I'm not much of a designer 
girl! I mean I do have designer pieces, but I'm more impressed with someone showing 
me a piece they bought for 2 bucks and how they made it look like a million, then 
I am seeing someone in a 100 jacket that I seen the exact same way in a magazine! 
I also love tribal and 60's! I live for a leopard scarf and I think the 
60's bought in the neon and chunky jewelry! 

 Walk Into Your Closet: What's in your closet..?  
If you walked into closet you would probably be a little scared! I recently did a guest 
blog post about all the staple pieces I believe a women should have in her closet! 
You can check that out here!  But here is a peek into my 
closet and some of my go to pieces! 

White tees are a must! They can go from day to night and are very inexpensive! 

A comfy, cute maxi! My fave pair of jeans that I practically live in and 

I keep a blazer or cardigan with me at all times!! Don't 

forget the accessories! They are always a must!

 What Inspires your style..? (your daily routine..? work? your hair? moods? are you a 
mom on the go and have to quickly result to easy quick on the go styles? what quick 
tips can you offer to incorporate into your daily mom fashion routines?) 
My mood definitely! I seriously take showers thinking who do I want to be today! 
When I was working I would pick my outfits out at night, but sometimes wake up 
and say No, that's no who I am today! I mean if your feeling a little lazy or not in 
a good mood the last thing you want to be in is 6 inch heels and bright 
red lips! Instead that day I might sport boyfriend jeans, 
a oversize tee and 4 inch heels LOL! 

 Heels Or Kicks...? 
Well now you know the answer to that! Heels all the way! I own two pair of tennies! 
A running pair and some blue Adidas that my husband bought because 
he refused to let me wear a pair of 3 inches boots on Bourbon 
street during Mardi Gras! (3 inches are practically flats to me!) 

These are the tennis I was forced to wear! LOL! I do like them but definitely not my go to shoe!

What are your favorite foot wears and why? 

I have so many favorite heels, peep toes, platforms, pumps you name it I love! I'm 

not a big fan of wedges! I'm really not sure why just my for me! Although I do 

owe about three pair!! Here are two of my current faves! I think these sandals 

describe my style in one! They are totally different, but I love them! High teal 

platform sandals I got from Justfab.com! They are a go to with any outfit and

 add the right pop of color! The next I got on sale at Payless! I think like 

are so cool and can add edge! I could wear both shoes with the 

same outfit, yet get a totally different look!

 Color Safe or Bold..? BOLD!!! 
I've never played it safe with color! Growing up my favorite color was pink, and I 
think the princess in me will always adore the color, but I can now say I don't have 
a favorite color! I love them all! I love patterns and have 
even Incorporated pattern in my home decor! 

What's your fashion statement..? 
Wow, good question! My fashion statement would be wearing things that make me feel 
like me! I mean I can't pick one particular thing because my style I feel is ever evolving! 
 I think most women spend way much time trying to fit in, staying up with the 
latest trends and body types! I think once your comfortable enough to be you 
and wear what makes you feel good whether it's in style, in season or 
fashionable, is the biggest fashion statement you can make! 


My husband coined a term chicken and watermelon! It's a his phase! Although it's 
funny when you hear it, the meaning behind it is so much deeper! As people we 
are all stereotyped! We are put into a box and expected to not color out the lines, 
chicken and watermelon means not being afraid to be you regardless 
of what people may think about it! I'm so Chicken and Watermelon! :) 

 Do you play it safe? or are you a fashion rebel..? 
Definitely a rebel! I love to go against the grain! Trying new things and 
standing out! My biggest complaint would be someone saying, 
"WOW, I would of never woren that like that!" 

 Shop Obsessed :Some of your favorite fashion stores??
Thrift stores of America! I now rarely shop in fashion stores! If I do it's 
Forever 21 for there $4.50 V neck tees! I have recently 
been turned on to eBay and I'm hooked! 

 Dress Me Like : who are your our style icons..? 
June Ambrose would have to be my all time fave stylist! But I think I take 
inspiration from every day women! Blogs and YouTube are great places 
to look for style inspiration! WWW.stylepantry.com,

www.youtube.com/loveislandbeauty <---- My best 
friend in my head! Are some of my all time faves! 

 Top Shelf : what are you into lately..? 
Nails? Colors, Shades of lipsticks,hair styles, what's your top 
shelf item/fashion trend you are loving the most lately?. 
I'm such a product junkie!!! Shea Moisture hair products and NYX makeup are 
my current addictions! I'm addicted to NYX Matte lipsticks and there eyebrow 
cake powder! Ladies please don't neglect those brows!!! I'm also currently 
making my transition to natural hair so I love kinky, curly hair, 
turbans and scarves and of course wigs!! 

 Style The Mannequin - How You Wear It Best : Eye Brows
 I could give a piece of clothing that I love most and wear the best, but honestly I think 
the key to any amazing outfit is something you can only see in mirror! Your face! I 
feel like I can turn any piece of clothing into something that I love and shows off my 
best feature, but If my face isn't beat, nothing else matters! I absolutely love makeup! 
I do take it a bit far most days with full on lips, tons of mascara and blush for days!! 
But there is nothing better than a fresh well groomed face! I think the one thing women 
should pay most attention to is her eyebrows! Eyebrows can make all the difference! 
Well groomed brows can make u look younger and put together! Even the days that 
they aren't so groomed, fake it until you make it with... concealer! On those days when 
I don't have the cleanest brow, a little concealer under the brow can hide all those 
stubs! I only get my brows sharpened once a month, I do the in between myself.

Before and after! BIG difference! I wish someone would of told 

me that over tweezing your brows would have horrible life long effects!

PRODUCTS USED ABOVE FOR BROWS

NXY concealer in a jar! Color tan ~ Ulta /  cherryculture.com 

Brow pencil is dark brown ~ Any local beauty store

*When finding a concealer make sure it is just a little lighter than you skin tone, 

To fill in my brows I use eyebrow cake power also from NXY! Love it! I use to just use 

eye shadow but once I found this I was hooked! I also get this from my local Ulta! 

It's under $10!! It comes with two different shades! To help with a more natural 

finish I use the lighter color to fill in and the darker color to outline over the pencil.

I use two different brushes in my routine my angle brush is from the elf line 

at target it was $3 and the flat concealer brush is from a brand called 

soho. I'm not to familiar with the line I just seen it at Walgreen's on sell! :)

I have to get that brow routine down packed. I have not so thick brows myself.
